Garra Rufa is the new waterboarding. After all, waterboarding is so 2008.
Garra Rufa is the name of a small fish indigenous to the Middle East. For fifty bucks, you can submerge your body in water and have these little fish nibble away at your dead skin. Sounds appetizing? It’s nuts.
Garra Rufa, also called “doctor fish,” are like mini-piranhas, except they have no teeth and thus lack a killer instinct.
Nevertheless, willingly submitting yourself to this “spa treatment” makes no sense to me, yet women in the D.C. suburbs have gone nuts for this. John Ho is the first (and perhaps only) pedicurist offering this torture-treatment, but I’m sure there’ll be more of these popping up in the near future.
